Ivo Gico Lectures about Compliance Program in Austria
Students in the 2015-2017 Master in Anti-Corruption Studies (MACS) programme finished the in-class part of their current module on Anti-Corruption, Compliance and the Private Sector last week.
Over two weeks at IACA’s Laxenburg campus, the class discussed the challenges of doing business in corrupt environments, the informal economy, effective compliance programmes, corporate social responsibility, internal investigations, and collective action. The schedule included a study visit to the Vienna International Centre for the eighth session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (UNTOC). Paper by Ivo Gico used by Brazilian Supreme Court
The Brazilian Supreme Court quoted partner Ivo Gico’s paper (Princípio da eficiência e o software livre) on case (ADI n. 3.059-RS) that challenged, on constitutional grounds, a State law that forced the State’s public administration to use free and open source software.

Brazilian Federal Public Prosecutors’ Office (Ministério Público Federal) used Ivo Gico’s Law and Economics paper (Metodologia e Epistemologia da Análise Econômica do Direito) on decision regarding SBM Offshore leniency application. SBM Offshore’s leniency application is connected to alleged corruption in Petrobras’ contracts.
